A Little Bit About Us:

EVERYONE IS WELCOME

Sky learners come in all ages and experience levels

There is no "too"

too old, too young, experienced, inexperienced, etc. to attempt our curriculum.

Dark Sky

We believe in keeping the sky dark through our teachings and initiatives.

Luna Lee has over 15 years of pedagogical architecture experience in the Higher Ed environments — both building & teaching.

She’s led the academic technology side(s) to ensure tech was being used in ways that would enhance, not hinder, advanced learning and research at the collegiate level.

She also spent a decade honing her very messy rhetorical oration skills, in the classroom — teaching students herself.

She has built curriculum for various STEM grad programs and taught in Film Studies & Media Arts Departments.

Her professional scope encompasses a variety of public & private higher educational eco-systems as well as experience with corporations.

Her current research areas include: Imperial Roman Calendrics, Meteorite Worship in the Iron Age and Didactic Poetry concerning the Astronomical Sky.

This is Our Story.

During the pandemic, my family and I moved to a rental in the countryside, where the clear, wide-open skies became a source of wonder.

Since I worked all day teaching virtually on screens -- I decided my nights would be offscreen!

I decided to turn the night sky into a classroom for my then 5-year-old. Each evening, we would step outside with a blanket and some snacks, gazing up at the stars. I taught him the names of constellations, like Orion and the Big Dipper, by turning them into fun stories. We used apps and charts, and sometimes we’d just lie on the grass, letting our imaginations soar. It became a special bonding time—he learned the magic of the sky, and I rediscovered it through his eyes. Those nights sparked my passion for sharing astronomy with others, leading me to create Sky School 19.

Our Approach

We teach what is called "Observational Astronomy" which means, learning everything that you can see in the night sky with just your eyes --  no equipment needed.
